Why Target Hospitalists
Hospitalists are high prescribers and key decision makers in drug utilization and medical equipment selection. They are responsible for the care of millions of patients annually. Hospitalists are board certified physicians whose primary focus is the fundamental medical care of the hospitalized patient. Key therapeutic areas of involvement by the Hospitalist include Cardiovascular, Infection, Diabetes, VTE, Pain Management, Asthma and COPD. Hospitalists consult and treat more patients in the hospital with cardiac issues than Cardiologists
Hospitalists are different than office based internists. Hospitalists are the health-economic change agents in hospitals. They acutely manage millions of patients from admission thru discharge and coordinate patient care with outpatient primary care physicians. Along this path, drugs, dosages, and orders are all affected by the Hospitalist. This is a key pivot point of interest for industry executives trying to increase market share and increase product exposure.
Hospitalist’s roles and responsibilities include reducing the length of stay and costs, and improving quality of patient care. They are leaders and change agents affecting hospital procedures and policies. Hospitalists improve hospital patient efficiency via early throughput and discharge. They create continuity by transitioning patients from inpatient to outpatient, from ER to Floor and from ICU to Floor. They create a seamless fabric between the hospital and the out patient setting.
